Springfield police investigate fatal shooting at restaurant

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) - Springfield police are investigating after a 28-year-old man was fatally shot outside Taco Bell restaurant.

The shooting was reported about 11:30 p.m. Monday. Officer found Malcolm James of Springfield in the parking lot with a gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital where he later died.

No arrests have been made.

Police say it was the 27th violent death in Springfield this year and the 18th classified as murder. Among the other nine, one was determined to be negligent manslaughter, two were ruled justified and six remain under investigation.
