The shooting happened in the Jeff-Vander-Lou neighborhood around 10:20 p.m. Wednesday, when officers were called to the area for a report of a shooting and found the teen with a gunshot wound to the head, police said. The boy was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police had not released the child's name by Thursday morning, and no arrests in the case had been reported.
