Police: Woman dead, 3 others wounded in St. Louis shooting

ST. LOUIS (AP) - A woman died and three others were injured in an overnight shooting in north St. Louis, police said.

The shooting happened around 12:45 a.m. Tuesday near the Walnut Park East neighborhood, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported. All four people who were shot were inside a vehicle at the time, police said.

Officials have not released other details of the shooting or the identities of those shot, except to say that all the victims were in their 20s.

The woman died at the scene, police said. Two men were in stable condition and a fourth victim was in critical condition.

The Walnut Park East neighborhood has been the scene of nine homicides this year and is a focus of an anti-violence campaign that began last week, the Post-Dispatch reported.

St. Louis has seen 157 homicide so far this year, compared with 114 during the same period last year.
