A Jefferson City man was sentenced to 15 years in prison for violating terms of his probation in robbery and non-fatal shooting cases.

The probation revocation against Leandre Williams, 19, came during a hearing before Cole County Presiding Judge Jon Beetem.

In August 2020, Williams, then 18, was sentenced by Beetem to 120 days of shock detention in connection with a December 2018 robbery in Cole County. He pleaded guilty to an amended charge of one count of second-degree robbery.

He had been charged with first-degree robbery and armed criminal action, but prosecutors amended those charges.

According to Cole County Sheriff's Department reports, deputies went to a residence in the 5600 block of Scherr Drive to investigate a weapons offense. It was later determined the house had been the target of a robbery over marijuana.

Williams was found to have successfully completed his treatment at DOC, and was placed on five years of supervised probation.

Then in March, Williams pleaded guilty to an amended charge of accessory to first-degree assault for a shooting that occurred in March 2020. He had been charged with first-degree assault, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon, but prosecutors dismissed those charges. He was placed on five years supervised probation in that case.

The shooting occurred in the 1200 block of Jefferson Street. An 18-year-old woman was hospitalized for injuries from the incident.

The victim told police she was at Phillips 66 on Stadium Boulevard before being shot. Before leaving the store, she said, she saw several individuals exit a black SUV and stare at her. She said she thought they began to follow her once the group pulled off the lot. It was at that time she claimed she heard several gunshots, then felt a pain in her back.

Williams told police he was in the SUV but denied shooting. Police officers reported finding a black satchel and two unspent 9mm casings at Williams' home.

At the time, Williams was on GPS monitoring through Cole County pre-trial release for the robbery case.

Police said the GPS data showed Williams in the area at the time of the shooting and fleeing the area after the shooting occurred.

Currently, Williams is facing charges after a weapons offense that occurred in June. According to Jefferson City Police Department reports, Williams is believed to have committed the crime in the area of East McCarty and Lafayette streets. No injuries were reported in this incident.

The Cole County Prosecutor's Office charged him with unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm and armed criminal action.

A JCPD probable cause statement states witnesses claimed to have seen Williams shooting the gun. When questioned, Williams reportedly denied firing the gun.
