Local lawmaker, retired judge honored for service to Missouri's judiciary

A Jefferson City lawmaker was honored this week for his work to help the causes of the state's judiciary.

State Rep. Rudy Veit, R-Wardsville, was one of eight lawmakers honored at the annual Judicial Conference of Missouri. The legislators were recognized for their efforts to "protect and promote a fair, efficient and independent judiciary."

Also at the ceremony, John Gunn, president of the Missouri Bar, presented the Theodore McMillian Judicial Excellence Award to Patricia Joyce, retired presiding judge of the 19th Judicial Circuit in Cole County.
