2 Mid-Missouri residents win Missouri Lottery prizes

Two area residents recently won large prizes in Missouri Lottery games.

An Osage County resident won a $1 million Powerball prize after buying five different Quick Pick tickets for the Sept. 4 Powerball drawing. One of the tickets - purchased at Loose Creek Oil - matched all five white-ball numbers drawn to win the $1 million prize.

Lottery officials also said a Cole County resident uncovered a $50,000 Scratchers prize on a "$300 Million Cash Explosion" ticket purchased at Hy-Vee in Jefferson City.

A new law went into affect this year allowing the Missouri Lottery to have an option for winners to remain anonymous. In addition, the law makes Missouri the only state to criminalize the publication of a winner's name.
