Motorcycle driver injured in Jefferson City crash

A Jefferson City man was hurt when his motorcycle and a pickup truck collided Sunday afternoon.

Jefferson City police report Timothy Paul Stockman, 62, was transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries following the 3:51 p.m. crash on westbound U.S. 50/63 at East McCarty Street.

Stockman was operating a motorcycle that came onto the divided highway from the westbound on-ramp, switched from the ramp acceleration lane to the right travel lane and then moved into the left passing lane. Meanwhile, a pickup driven by Alexis Marie Jaegers, 24, of Linn, was traveling westbound in the passing lane and was unable to avoid hitting the rear of the motorcycle, police report.

Stockman was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Jaegers, who was wearing a seat belt, was uninjured.

Both westbound lanes initially were closed for a short time before the left lane was reopened. The right lane remained closed for around 45 minutes while emergency personnel worked at the scene.
