A Columbia man is facing multiple charges in Cole County for allegedly trying to deliver illegal drugs to the Lake of the Ozarks.

Zane Shepherd, 18, is charged with three counts of delivery of a controlled substance, as well as misdemeanor counts of driving while revoked and failure to drive on the right side of the road.

A Cole County Sheriff's Department probable cause statement states Shepherd was stopped by a deputy early Sunday morning on U.S. 54 West at Route D for a lane violation.

A check of Shepherd's driver's license found it had been suspended. Shepherd had also told the deputy about narcotics in the vehicle, which led the deputy to conduct a search of the vehicle.

During the search, the deputy allegedly found two digital scales, a plastic grocery bag with approximately 232 grams of marijuana and 25 pouches that were labeled as Jolly Rancher gummies, but contained warning labels saying they could contain THC. By definition, this is a cannabinoid molecule in marijuana. It's recognized as the substance that causes people who use marijuana to feel high.

In the trunk of the vehicle, the deputy allegedly found another bag containing 44 amphetamine pills, 98 alprazolam pills and 71 tabs/doses of LSD.

During an interview, Shepherd allegedly admitted to taking the drugs and planned to "give" them to a group of females at the Lake of the Ozarks.
