The Capital City Marching Band showed off its musical skills Tuesday with its "Jekyll and Hyde" show.

The show featured soloists Alyssa Loughridge on electric cello and Brooke Ivy on trumpet.

Tena Sapp, Band Booster treasurer, said the 80-member high school band is in its first year. The "Jekyll and Hyde" performance was a "send-off" as the band heads to a Bands of America competition this weekend.

Bands of America is a two-day band competition hosted regionally at locations across the nation, Sapp said. Around 50 bands, including Capital City, will participate this weekend at the Super Regional Championship in St. Louis. The top 14 bands will compete in the finals for a chance to be named the Super Regional Champion.
