The Jefferson City Fire Department responded Monday morning to Missouri Farm Bureau Headquarters after reports of spilled chemicals caused issues with employees. The source of the spill was located and ventilation removed much of the odor.

No injuries were reported after the Jefferson City Fire Department was called out Monday morning for a reported hazardous materials incident at Missouri Farm Bureau on South Country Club Drive.

According to JCFD reports, the call came in at 10:52 a.m. Crews arrived and found the building was being evacuated due to an odor inside.

Fire officials investigated and found a small bottle of pesticide spilled in the building and the smell made its way through the building, causing some employees to report their eyes were burning.

The fire department assisted with ventilation of the building as well as cleanup that was needed before employees were allowed back inside.
