Two-day event to mark 20th anniversary of 9/11 attacks

Sept. 11, 2021, marks the 20th anniversary of the terrorist attacks in New York City, Washington D.C., and Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

The Missouri Patriot Day Committee will commemorate these tragic events with a two-day remembrance at the Missouri Capitol Complex beginning at 7 p.m. Sept. 10, on the south lawn of the Capitol and conclude with events in the afternoon of Sept. 11.

The events will feature static displays of 9/11 artifacts, emergency and military vehicles, reading the names of those lost during the attacks, as well a keynote speaker.

Saturday, Sept. 11, will feature a parade through downtown Jefferson City, the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers 5K walk/run, and the Missouri State Fire Marshal 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb at the Jefferson Building.
