Almost 1,000 customers of Ameren Missouri lost electricity around 9 a.m. Monday in Jefferson City, but service has since been restored.

The affected area was within the 65101 zip code, according to the utility's outage map.

Company officials indicated power had been restored around 10:30 a.m. They attributed the outage to an "equipment malfunction."
