Jefferson City police officers arrested multiple people in two separate incidents Sunday on the city's east side.

Officers responded to the 800 block of East Elm Street at 2:49 p.m. Sunday for a report of an assault involving a motor vehicle, according to a JCPD report.

The alleged victim and several witnesses told officers the suspect, a 20-year-old Jefferson City resident, had fled the scene after attempting to run over the victim.

An investigation revealed that a disturbance had occurred between several people in the area, police reported. At one point, the suspect backed out of a parking space and appeared to leave; however, the vehicle then began driving forward, striking a parked car and two individuals next to the car. The suspect then backed up again and left the area.

The suspect was located and arrested. The suspect initially denied intentionally striking the victim and the parked car, but, after being informed the encounter had been recorded, she admitted to the incident, JCPD reported. She was transported to the Cole County Jail for processing.

Charges are being requested for first-degree property damage and second-degree assault.

The second incident occurred at approximately 4:44 p.m. Sunday, when officers responded to the 600 block of Locust Street for a disturbance involving several participants of the earlier assault. An 18-year-old Cole County resident was arrested for fourth-degree assault and second-degree property damage for damaging a vehicle.

A second 18-year-old Cole County resident was arrested for fourth-degree assault for her role in the Locust Street disturbance.

Both were transported to the Cole County Jail but have since been released.

Investigation into the related continues with more arrests possible, according to JCPD spokesman Lt. David Williams.
