Tipton man arrested for illegal drugs

A Tipton man was arrested after an investigation by the Moniteau County Sheriff's Department for illegal drugs.

Deputies and members of the Tipton Police Department were dispatched to a residence in Tipton on Thursday on a report of suspicious activity involving a possible break-in two days before, according to a Sheriff's Department report.

Upon arrival, deputies made contact with a person later identified as Taylor Peoples, 28. Deputies ran a background check and learned Peoples was on probation/parole for possession of a controlled substance. Deputies also reportedly detected an odor of marijuana coming from the residence.

Peoples allegedly admitted to having marijuana while inside. Authorities reported they found marijuana, drug paraphernalia, scales and methamphetamine inside the residence and found plastic bags and other paraphernalia during a search of Peoples' vehicle.
