Probation ordered in Jefferson City weapons case

A Jefferson City woman was placed on five years supervised probation for pleading guilty to a charge in connection with a weapons offense in April 2021.

During a hearing before Cole County Presiding Judge Jon Beetem, Angela Archer, 42, pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful use of a weapon. A second count was dismissed by prosecutors.

As part of her probation conditions, Archer is not to possess alcohol or firearms. If she is found to have violated conditions of her probation, she faces four years in prison.

The incident occurred in the 1000 block of Buena Vista Street, according to a Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statement.

Officers looked at Jefferson City Housing Authority video, which showed Archer leaving her vehicle and discharging a firearm outside of a residence. She stumbled toward the door and began to kick the door of the residence, causing it to break open. Authorities said Archer went inside the residence and fired multiple rounds; she then went outside the residence, removed property and tossed the firearm in the front yard.

Not long after she left the area, Lincoln University Police Department officers arrested Archer for intoxication.

The next day, JCPD officers found a firearm and ammunition in the front yard of the residence on Buena Vista Street.
