Helias Catholic High School has hired two new staff members, the school announced Wednesday.

Rebecca Martin has joined the school as director of communication and admissions, and Karen Stout has joined the faculty as an art teacher.

A Jefferson City native, Martin is a graduate of Helias Catholic. She holds degrees in journalism and theology from Benedictine College and has worked as a journalist in Central Missouri for the past eight years, most recently as city editor for the Jefferson City News Tribune.

"Rebecca is an outstanding alumnus who represents well what Helias seeks to foster in our students - to become a person who is a 'scholar and a saint for Christ,'" Helias President John Knight said in a Helias news release.

Stout has a master's degree in art education from the University of Missouri-Columbia and a bachelor's degree in studio arts from Stephens College. She most recently served as the education director at the Columbia Art League.

"Mrs. Stout's experience as an educator and an artist will offer our students opportunities to build skills in creativity and expression that they can apply to artistic pursuits as well as to their general education," Helias Principal Spencer Allen said in the news release.
