A free community COVID-19 testing event is planned in Jefferson City next week.

The testing - provided by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, the Missouri Primary Care Association and MAKO Medical - is scheduled 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Jan. 20 in the parking lot of American Legion Post 5, 1423 Tanner Bridge Road.

The test is done with a nasal swab to determine if there is an active infection with SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. It is not an antigen or antibody test.

To register for this or any free testing event in the state, visit health.mo.gov/ communitytest.

Missouri residency is the only requirement. People need not live in the county in which they are tested, nor do they have to be experiencing symptoms to receive the test.
