The Jefferson City School District Board of Education will vote Monday on whether to award a contract to The Architects Alliance for the addition and completion of competition athletic facilities at Jefferson City and Capital City high schools.

Capital City High School's facilities construction will include a press box, home and visiting team bleachers, concessions, restrooms and locker rooms for use between the football and soccer fields; dugouts, a press box, concessions, restrooms and storage areas at the baseball/softball complex; and event parking adjacent to the soccer and football fields and near the tennis courts.

Jefferson City High School's facilities construction will include a baseball/softball field with dugouts, bullpens, batting cages and bleachers; a press box, concessions, restrooms and storage facilities for use between fields; a soccer field with lighting and home and visitor bleachers; a tennis complex with eight tennis courts and a pavilion with restrooms, concessions, storage and a viewing deck; and elevation of visitors bleachers at Adkins Stadium.

These projects will cost $21.4 million, JC Schools Chief Financial/Operating Officer Jason Hoffman said.

Construction is estimated to begin in May, and architects will meet with stakeholders next winter to finalize needs.

The board will also vote on whether to award a contract to Extreme Painting to patch and paint the upper-level soffits and front stage area in the Miller Performing Arts Center auditorium for $17,940.

Superintendent Larry Linthacum will also give an overview of the timeline to address building overcrowding in grades K-8, but the plan is not yet finalized, Hoffman said. The district anticipates bringing a bond issue to the board and voters in spring 2022 to address overcrowding.

The board will also review a draft of the 2021-22 school calendar, discuss the student drug testing policy and approve Missouri School Boards Association policies.

The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday at the Miller Performing Arts Center auditorium, 501 Madison St. in Jefferson City, and is open to the public.
