Jefferson City VA Clinic to offer COVID-19 vaccine clinic

The Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans' Hospital will hold a COVID-19 vaccination clinic for veterans who are eligible for VA health care from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at the Jefferson City VA Clinic, 3430 W. Edgewood Drive.

Enrolled eligible veterans who meet current criteria do not need an appointment to receive a vaccine during the event.

However, the number of available vaccine doses will be limited, and veterans are encouraged to call 573-635-0233 to reserve a time in advance.

Vaccinations will be administered until the clinic's available supply is exhausted.

The enrolled eligible veterans who may be vaccinated include those who are 55 and older; eligible veterans of any age who are hemodialysis patients, organ transplant patients, chemotherapy patients and those with spinal cord injuries; and eligible veterans who are considered frontline essential workers according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The criteria used to determine VA health care eligibility includes character of service, time in service and income threshold. Additional specialized criteria also may determine eligibility. For more information on VA health care eligibility, visit youtu.be/sv87OeTKt38.

If veterans are unsure of their eligibility status, they can bring their DD Form 214 (often referred to as discharge papers) to the walk-in event to either verify their status or possibly enroll. Veterans also may call 573-814-6535 to verify or to inquire about the possibility of enrolling by telephone.
