Jefferson City man sentenced in burglary case

Jefferson City man has been placed on five years of supervised probation for burglarizing an office building in September 2016.

Alex Stieffermann, 30, pleaded guilty to a charge of second-degree property damage, which prosecutors amended from first-degree burglary. They also dismissed a charge of misdemeanor second-degree property damage.

As part of his probation, Stieffermann must pay back an undetermined amount of restitution and have no contact with the victim in this case.

Jefferson City Police Department reports show the owner of the building in the 2000 block of Midland Court arrived after hunting to find Stieffermann inside. He had damaged a wall, removed items from several lockers, and disorganized the victim's office and other areas.

Stieffermann's vehicle was stopped later that day, and he admitted to entering the building and causing the damage.

Authorities obtained video footage of Stiefferman entering and exiting the building.
