Feds approve P-SNAP benefits for April, broaden recipients

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food and Nutrition Service has approved P-SNAP benefits for Missourians for April.

P-SNAP (Pandemic Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) maximizes the amount each household receives based on the household's size.

Because of the federal government's late approval of April benefits, they will be paid in a modified schedule.

Missourians who receive SNAP benefits on or before the 14th of each month are to receive theirs Wednesday.

Missourians who receive the benefits after the 14th will receive theirs on their normal benefit payment date.

Beginning this month, every Missouri SNAP household will receive at least $95 in P-SNAP benefits. (Previously, households that normally received the maximum SNAP benefit amount did not get an additional P-SNAP benefit.)

Now, households that are near the maximum SNAP benefit amount will receive no less than a $95 P-SNAP benefit. Missouri households that already receive a P-SNAP benefit of $95 or more will see no change to their benefit amount.

Through Sept. 30, the maximum monthly SNAP benefit for Missourians is $234 for a single-person household, and $430 for a two-person, $616 for three-person, $782 for four-person, $929 for five person, $1,114 for six-person, $1,232 for seven-person, and $1,408 for eight-person households. Add $176 for each additional person after eight.

Missourians may apply for SNAP benefits 24 hours a day, seven days a week online by visiting mydss.mo.gov or sending completed applications and verification documents by email to [email protected] or by fax to 573-526-9400.
