Jefferson City residents looking to discard large items after spring cleaning will have an opportunity in the next two weeks.
The Jefferson City Department of Planning and Protective Services will conduct bulky item pickups over the next two weeks.
The pickups will begin Monday for those on the west side of U.S. 54, Director Sonny Sanders said. On the following Monday, the pickups will begin on the east side of the highway.
Residents are encouraged to place items for pickup by the curb Sunday evening but no later than 5 a.m. Monday.
"Please do not put the items out before (Sunday), they just create a nuisance," Sanders said.
Any items put out should be able to be moved by at most two people, he said.
Items that will be picked up include: furniture; large bulky items that two people can easily pick up; televisions; microwaves; tied bundles of scrap material under 4 feet; and mattresses.
Items that will not be picked up include: household trash or garbage; bags or boxes of debris; loose piles of material of any type; remodeling material (i.e. gypsum board, etc.); appliances; car parts including tires; yard waste; lumber or guttering over 4 feet; rocks, bricks, concrete; household hazardous waste (i.e. paint, oil, etc.); flammable material (i.e. gasoline); and acid batteries.
