Business parking lot damaged in fire near Westphalia

A controlled burn apparently got out of control Tuesday afternoon and caused damage in the parking lot of a business near Westphalia.

According to reports from the Westphalia Fire Department, the fire was called in around 2:45 p.m. at B&H Well Drilling Pump Service Inc near the intersection of U.S. 50 and U.S. 63.

The dry and windy conditions caused the fire to spread fast. Damage was contained to the parking lot area where some piping and a fork truck were destroyed, according to fire officials. No injuries were reported, and there was no damage to the business itself.

Westphalia firefighters received assistance from the Osage Fire Protection District and Linn Fire Protection District.
