Man arrested after pursuit with authorities

Jefferson City police took one person into custody after he led them on a pursuit Thursday morning that ended up in Holts Summit.

According to Jefferson City Police Department reports, officers were dispatched at 10:11 a.m. to the 2300 block of Southridge Drive for a report of a disturbance involving a hammer. Information received by operators at the 911 center indicated the suspect, identified as Germaine Morehouse, of Jefferson City, assaulted the victim and was leaving the area in a white vehicle.

One of the responding officers reportedly saw Morehouse in the stolen vehicle near the intersection of Route C and Southwest Boulevard. The officer attempted to stop Morehouse, but he failed to yield and a pursuit ensued.

The pursuit went onto U.S. 54 East and assisting officers were able to deploy tire spikes near the ramps of Missouri Boulevard. Although a successful deployment occurred, Morehouse continued going east on 54 and across the Missouri River bridge.

The pursuit continued into the city limits of Holts Summit and Morehouse finally stopped at the exit for routes OO and AA.

Morehouse was taken into custody without further resistance.

Morehouse was cited for DWI, driving while suspended, careless and reckless driving and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle. As of Thursday afternoon, he was being held in the Cole County Jail and authorities are asking the Cole County Prosecutor's Office to also charge Morehouse with domestic assault and felony resisting arrest.
