The Jefferson City Police Department will hold a public event for Halloween as in past years, but is making some changes to address the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The event, called the "Haunted Alley," will be 4:30-6:30 p.m. Friday at the Police Department, 401 Monroe St.

"Understanding the environment that we are currently placed in, we are making an adjustment to our traditional Halloween events," JCPD spokesman Lt. David Williams said in a news release. "We still want to see our community so we have created an outside event."

Normally JCPD holds a carnival and "Haunted Precinct" for Halloween.

With the Haunted Alley event, children will be able to get treats without having to leave their vehicle.

"We will have members of the department along with our Explorer Post members available to hand out treats," Williams said.
