The New Bloomfield R-3 School District received a clean, unmodified audit report for 2019-20.

Auditors from Mueller, Walla & Albertson P.C. found the district's financial statements comply with applicable accounting standards.

Superintendent Sarah Wisdom said the district is pleased with the report.

"It's always good to have no findings," Wisdom said.

Last year New Bloomfield received a clean audit, but the auditors did note one deficiency in internal control of financial reporting, finding the district lacked sufficient segregation of duties.

Often, small districts have limited accounting staff.

"In a smaller district, there are a lot of things you have to work at with fewer people," Wisdom said.

In the 2018-19 report, auditors acknowledged this.

"We realize the size and budget constraints of the New Bloomfield R-III School District limit the application of adequate segregation of duties," the 2018-19 report reads.

A year later, Wisdom says the district has worked hard and successfully to improve in this area. For 2019-20, the auditors did not identify any deficiencies in internal control over financial reporting.

The New Bloomfield R-3 Board of Education unanimously approved the report Thursday.
