Cole County reports 16th COVID-19 death

Cole County reported its 16th death related to COVID-19 on Tuesday.

The Cole County Health Department does not release additional information about residents whose deaths have been attributed to COVID-19.

The death reported Tuesday was not among long-term care facility residents, for whom the county Health Department shares COVID-19 case information separately. There have been seven COVID-19 deaths among long-term care facility residents in Cole County, according to the department.

As of 6 p.m. Tuesday, Cole County has reported 2,401 total COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began, 232 of which are active cases. A total of 2,045 Cole County patients have recovered from the coronavirus. Those numbers do not account for active cases and recoveries in long-term care facilities.

The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services will hold a COVID-19 community testing event from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Oct. 27 at First Assembly of God church, 1900 Route C in Jefferson City.

Another testing event in Osage County is scheduled from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Oct. 26 at the Osage County Fairgrounds in Linn.

The free testing is available to any Missouri resident and does not require a doctor's referral.

Symptoms of COVID-19 may include fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, or diarrhea, according to the CDC.
