Cole County confirms 3 new COVID-19 deaths

Cole County reported three new deaths attributed to COVID-19 on Wednesday, bringing the total number of coronavirus-related deaths in the county to 19.

One of the people whose death was reported Wednesday was a resident of a long-term care facility, according to data on the Cole County Health Department's website.

The Cole County Health Department does not release additional information about residents whose deaths have been attributed to COVID-19.

As of 6 p.m. Wednesday, Cole County has reported 2,434 total COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began, with 218 active cases and 2,088 patients who have recovered. Those numbers do not account for active cases and recoveries in long-term care facilities.

Eight of the 19 COVID-19 deaths among Cole County residents have been among long-term care facility residents, according to the county Health Department.

The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services will hold a COVID-19 community testing event from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Oct. 27 at First Assembly of God church, 1900 Route C in Jefferson City.

Another testing event in Osage County is scheduled from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Oct. 26 at the Osage County Fairgrounds in Linn.

The free testing is available to any Missouri resident and does not require a doctor's referral.

Symptoms of COVID-19 may include fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, or diarrhea, according to the CDC.
