Jefferson City man receives probation on drug charges

A Jefferson City man has been placed on five years of supervised probation for selling drugs in March 2018.

Matigg Woods, 38, pleaded guilty during a hearing before Cole County Judge Dan Green to two counts of delivery of a controlled substance.

He was also ordered to complete a 90-day shock detention sentence and was given credit for time already served.

If he violates his probation, Woods faces eight years in prison.

Officers, using a confidential informant, conducted two purchases of crack cocaine from Woods in the 300 block of Locust Street, according to Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statements.

The informant contacted Woods on a cellphone to set up a drug sale. The informant was equipped with digital and video recording devices as well as money to buy the drugs. The recordings show the informant purchasing the drugs from Woods.
