Miller County has reported four residents' deaths related to COVID-19, bringing the county's total to 41.

The Miller County Health Center noted in a news release that no further information would be shared about the person who died.

As of Wednesday, Miller County has confirmed a total of 1,617 test-confirmed positive cases of the coronavirus since March, of which 102 remain active. Eight COVID-19 patients from the county are currently hospitalized.

More than half of the 41 Miller County residents who have died due to COVID-19 were long-term care facility residents, and 33 of the county's COVID-19 deaths were among residents age 65 and older, according to the county Health Department.

Miller County has a positivity rate of 27.23 percent over the past seven days, the 50th-highest among the state's 116 counties and the city of St. Louis, according to the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services. The positivity rate is the percentage of all coronavirus tests performed that come out positive for the county; a high rate may be an indication of how widespread the virus is within a community.

Symptoms of COVID-19 may include fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, or diarrhea, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
