This year, the Jefferson City event was opened to businesses without requiring the typical financial commitment due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, with the goal of supporting as many small businesses in Jefferson City as possible, organizer and small-business owner Donna Deetz said.

The Jefferson City Area Chamber of Commerce and East Side and West Side business associations are sponsoring more than $900 to pay for the gift certificates awarded to shoppers who sign up at participating businesses and advertising.

Participating businesses will have drawing boxes where customers can enter for gift certificates that can be used at any participating business. The drawing will take place Dec. 2.
