Helias students to learn virtually for week after Thanksgiving

Helias Catholic High School students will participate in virtual learning from home next week following Thanksgiving break.

Helias students will not be on campus from Nov. 30 through Dec. 4.

Communications Director Sandy Hentges said the school chose to keep students at home in case of any potential exposure to the coronavirus over the holiday long weekend.

The week away from campus will provide a chance to conduct any contact tracing and quarantine without exposing other student or staff, Hentges said.

When attending classes in person, Helias has required students to wear masks when social distancing isn't possible.

As of Wednesday, Hentges said, the school has fewer than 10 active COVID-19 cases.

The school expects to return to in-person learning Dec. 7 and start winter break Dec. 18.
