Through at least the end of the year, in-person services at Missouri Job Centers will be available by appointment only, the state Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development's Office of Workforce Development announced this week.

The new policy took effect Friday for all locations and will be in place through at least Dec. 31.

Customers are now required to wear masks when visiting, as staff have been.

"With layoffs due to COVID-19 closures, our work right now is even more important," OWD Director Mardy Leathers said in a news release. "In order to help Missourians skill up and get back to work, we have to keep our centers safe and our staff and customers healthy."

The job centers closed in March and opened to the public again in September.

Job center staff provide assistance with finding training, resume writing, interview preparation and connections with other state agencies and resources for people who are unemployed or looking for a career change.

Displaced workers may be eligible for free training vouchers, and staff are also prepared to assist people receiving unemployment benefits with their weekly job search activities.

There is a Jefferson City center located in Capital Mall at 3600 Country Club Drive, Suite 2004, Room 100. The Jefferson City job center is open 7 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Friday and closed on weekends. The phone number is 573-526-8115, and the email address is [email protected]

There is also a Fulton job center located at 512 Market St. The Fulton job center is open 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Thursday, and 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Friday. It's closed on weekends. The phone number is 573-642-7760.
