American Legion Post 5 in Jefferson City will host a free COVID-19 testing site in its parking lot next month.
The testing, provided by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services and conducted by the Missouri National Guard, is scheduled from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Dec. 10 at the post at 1423 Tanner Bridge Road.
The test is done with a nasal swab to determine if there is an active infection with SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. This is not an antigen or antibody test.
As of Friday, DHSS only listed testing events through Dec. 5 on its website. The Jefferson City event and other future events should be listed with registration open after Monday, DHSS officials said.
