Three people of interest were detained after shots were fired Tuesday night.

Jefferson City Police Department Capt. Eric Wilde said they got a call around 6:30 p.m. to go to the 800 block of Monroe Street.

"No one was struck, but witnesses saw three individuals run into an apartment building at the intersection of Adams and Hickory streets," Wilde said.

After the three had been taken into custody, armed officers searched the apartment building again to make sure no one else was inside and found no one.

Wilde said as of Tuesday night they had no idea what led to the incident. The three individuals were taken to the police department where detectives would conduct interviews with them and continue the investigation.
