Bartlett & West works with nonprofit to offer relief for health care workers

Working with the United Way of Central Missouri, the engineering firm Bartlett & West has provided funding to establish the Central Missouri Medical Personnel Relief Fund.

The fund is intended to provide financial aid to Mid-Missouri health care workers who have experienced hardships because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Similar to the way it acts as the fiscal agent for the Central Missouri Food Service Industry Relief Fund, the United Way will act as the fiscal agent for the health care workers fund.

The fund is to provide emergency aid for rent, mortgages, utilities and auto payments for people in the health care field employed by Capital Region Medical Center, Jefferson City Medical Group or SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital.

Those eligible to apply for relief assistance include full- and part-time (benefits-eligible) employees who have been furloughed, laid off, had decreases in wages or whose position the health care provider eliminated because of the pandemic.

To donate by check, make checks payable to United Way of Central Missouri and include "Medical Relief Fund" in the note field. Checks may be mailed to the United Way of Central Missouri, 205 Alameda Drive, Jefferson City, MO 65109.

"United Way of Central Missouri has a long-standing history of accountability and transparency, as well as an incredible network of partners and expertise on community issues," Bartlett & West COO Bob Gilbert said in a news release. "Therefore, we trust United Way to be the fiscal agent and operate this fund to help Bartlett & West realize our goal in supporting our community."
