Crews begin Shawnee Creek bridge replacement

Motorists along Missouri 100 in Osage County will need to find an alternate route around the Shawnee Creek bridge, northwest of Morrison, as crews begin the replacement process next week.

The existing bridge was built in 1946 and, in its current poor condition, has reached a point where replacement is necessary, according to a Missouri Department of Transportation news release.

A contractor working for MoDOT is scheduled to close the road and begin construction June 1. The bridge will be closed for up to three months while work takes place.

A signed detour will be in place. Motorists may use routes N and J and Missouri 89 as a detour.

This bridge is included in Gov. Mike Parson’s $351 million Focus on Bridges program, which will repair or replace 250 bridges across the state.

This work is weather permitting and could be delayed.
