Two charged with drug trafficking

Two Jefferson City men have been charged with drug trafficking following an incident Thursday.

Brandon Betts, 37, and Dennis Washington, 48, are also charged with delivery of a controlled substance.

Narcotics detectives reportedly saw a hand-to-hand narcotics transaction between two known drug dealers - Betts and Washington - on the parking lot of Gerbes Super Store on Schotthill Woods Drive, according to Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statements.

When the two left the store parking lot, authorities followed and stopped them in their respective vehicles in the 800 block of Eastland Drive.

Washington was allegedly found to have four bags of crack cocaine and allegedly admitted to purchasing the crack from Betts for $600.

When officers searched Betts, he was allegedly in possession of a bag of crack cocaine and $600 in cash.
