Residents and visitors ask some common questions every year during Jefferson City's Salute to America Festival. Here are answers to some of those questions.

Which streets will be closed July 3-4?

High Street from Adams Street to Broadway Street.

Capitol Avenue from Main Street to Adams Street.

Madison Street from Wall Way to State Street.

Monroe Street from Wall Way to State Street.

Washington Street from Wall Way to West High Street.

Capitol Circle Drive.

When is the carnival open?

Carnival rides will operate noon-10 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturday and 1-5 p.m. July 5.   The streets where the carnival will be set up will remain closed an extra day for the carnival to remain open Sunday.

Where can I park during the festival?

For drivers entering downtown Jefferson City from the east, the State Street Parking Garage will be open. Access it from State Street.

From the west, the West State Parking Garage on West Main Street located on the left just before you get to the Capitol should have some spots open. There will be parking spaces at state lots in the Millbottom area as well as off-street parking on East McCarty Street, Capitol Avenue (east of Adams Street), East Miller Street, and Madison and Monroe streets from the Whitton Expressway to Wall Way.

ADA-accessible parking is avaliable in the St. Peter Catholic Church lot off West Main Street and behind the Governor's Office Building, accessed through Commercial Way from Jefferson Street.

When is the parade, and what route will it take?

The Salute to America parade is scheduled at 6 p.m. July 3. Starting at Monroe and Miller streets, the parade heads up Monroe Street to High Street, then from High Street to Jefferson Street and from Jefferson Street back to Miller Street.

Where will alcohol be served?

Adult beverages will be served in the beer garden near the intersection of Jefferson and High streets July 3-4. Downtown bars and restaurants will also serve alcohol in their establishments. No alcohol is permitted on state property.

Where can I watch the July 4 fireworks display?

Anywhere in the festival area is considered acceptable. The display is set off at the Capital City Sand Plant across the Missouri River, and residents and visitors must be clear of that area.

The festival's fireworks viewing area will be set up at Lohman's Landing, next to the Carnahan Memorial Garden on Capitol Avenue.
