Fourth of July celebrations set across Mid-Missouri

It's time to celebrate the Fourth of July.

While Salute to America in Jefferson City offers plenty of activities and a major fireworks show this weekend, it is not the only way to celebrate the birth of our nation. Check out what other celebrations are planned in Mid-Missouri:

ASHLAND

In Ashland, the annual 4th of July Tractor Parade will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, with lineup beginning at Southern Boone Elementary School at 8:30 a.m. After the parade, beginning at 10 a.m. and ending at 2 p.m., will be the Tractor Show and Community Picnic at The Meadows, 16535 Old 63 South. The event will be outdoors with plenty of room for social distancing and will include games, a hay maze and food, including burgers, hot dogs and homemade ice cream.

The event is free and open to the public, though donations are accepted, with proceeds going to benefit the local mission outreach of Walk in Faith Church.

ELDON

Eldon's Fourth of July events kick off at 7:30 a.m. Saturday with the Firecracker 5K Run/Walk that starts at the Eldon Public Safety Building.

In the afternoon, there is a variety of activities available, including half-price swim at the Eldon Aquatic Center from noon-4 p.m., the Food Truck Village at Eldon Air Park from 4-11 p.m., a petting zoo and "pony/unicorn rides" from 4-6 p.m. and a "Patriotic Pet Contest" at 6 p.m., along with craft vendors and face painting at the Eldon Air Park from 4-8 p.m. and the Concert in the Park featuring Pure Drive from 7-9 p.m.

The annual fireworks display will begin at 9:30 p.m. at Eldon Air Park.

FREEBURG

The Freeburg Lions Club will host its annual fireworks display at dusk Thursday at the Freeburg Lions Club Ballpark, just south of town.

FULTON

Fulton's annual Independence Day Parade will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, starting from the south gate of William Woods at 12th Street and continue down Nichols Street, east on 10th Street and down Court Street to Memorial Park.

After the parade, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2657 is hosting a fish fry.

The City of Fulton will then set off a fireworks display at dusk.

HOLTS SUMMIT

Holts Summit opted to cancel its annual festival and fireworks show due to public health concerns.

LINN

Linn's annual fireworks display will begin at dusk Friday at the LOSA Soccer Fields on North Lake Street.

In past years, the General Baptist Nursing Home hosted an area-wide Linn Independence Day Celebration, but that will not happen this year due to public health concerns.

RUSSELLVILLE

The Russellville Lions Club will host its annual fireworks show July 11 at 13625 Route C.

The day will kick off at 11 a.m. with a car show and music by Helen Russell. A corn hole tournament is set for noon and food will be available, including pork steaks, pulled pork and hamburgers. A bounce house and vendors will be on site and Whiskey Throttle will begin playing at 8 p.m.

Fireworks will begin at dusk and Whiskey Throttle will play again after the fireworks have finished.
