JCPD investigates shots fired at Capital Mall

The Jefferson City Police Department is working to identify those involved in a shooting near the carnival at Capital Mall Friday night.

The police department received several calls regarding 20-30 people fighting near the carnival and JoAnns Fabric, according to a Saturday JCPD news release. During that fight, someone fired several rounds in the air.

Several individuals fled the area before officers arrived on the scene, the news release states.

Officers located spent shell casings between the carnival and JoAnns Fabric.

Officers did not locate any injured individuals or property damage, the news release states.

The police department and detectives are continuing to investigate this incident.
