JC resident arrested in connection to Friday arson cases

The Jefferson City Police Department arrested a Jefferson City resident in connection to two Friday arson cases.

Iasha Cannady, 46, of Jefferson City, is being held at the Cole County Jail pending charges of first degree arson, according to a Saturday news release.

Early Friday morning, police officers and the Jefferson City Fire Department responded to the 800 block of Lafayette Street after "someone threw an explosive device through a window causing a fire to start in the bedroom area of the residence," according to the news release.

Along with the fire in the bedroom, a fire was also started in the bushes in front of the residence. 

A bottle containing flammable liquid was also located on the bedroom window sill and was lit on fire, the news release states.

Six residents were home at the time of the incident.

A few hours later, police officers and firefighters responded to the 1200 block of East Water Street after someone threw a bottle containing flammable liquid that was on fire at a residence. The bottle ignited a fire on the front of the residence, the news release states.

The police department and detectives are continuing to investigate these incidents.
