A Jefferson City man has been accused of shooting a weapon last Wednesday night near a city park.

Tyrone Seals, 20, is charged with felony unlawful use of a weapon.

A Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statement shows the incident was reported in the 700 block of Marshall Street.

Vehicles reportedly at the scene when the shots were fired had left by the time officers arrived. Officers walked through the area and found three shell casings. There were some people in nearby Community Park, but they claimed to have not seen anything take place.

On Thursday, authorities accessed video from surveillance cameras in the park and found images that showed the incident. On the video, several young Black males are reportedly seen ducking as if someone were shooting at them. Seals is allegedly seen firing rounds from a handgun toward Dunklin Street. He then got in a vehicle and was driven away from the scene, the video shows.

On Friday, officers spotted the vehicle in the 800 block of Stadium Boulevard, going east. When it drove on the center line, officers stopped the vehicle for a traffic violation near the intersection of Adams and Case streets.

Seals was inside and reportedly admitted a firearm was in the vehicle. A pistol was located on the back floorboard; the gun uses rounds that were found in the area of the shooting Wednesday. During questioning, Seals reportedly told authorities he shot the weapon twice because he believed someone had shot at him.
