Cole County towns elect mayors, aldermen

Voters in several Cole County towns chose local government representatives, many unopposed as candidates, in Tuesday's municipal election.

Centertown

Trustee: Paula Hinshaw (23 votes, 56.10 percent) and Sherry Kempf (16 votes, 39.02 percent), both unopposed, were elected. There were also two write-in votes.

Lohman

Mayor: Jason Wood (unopposed) was elected with 20 votes (90.91 percent). There were also two write-in votes.

Board of Aldermen (vote for two): David Viles (17 votes, 35.42 percent) and Franklin Chapman (15 votes, 31.25 percent) were elected. Regina Hoffman received six votes (12.5 percent).

Russellville

Mayor: Sharon Morgan (unopposed) was elected with 56 votes (96.55 percent). There were also two write-in votes.

Alderman East: Matt Grayson (unopposed) was elected with 39 votes (100 percent).

Alderman West: Dana Frisby (unopposed) was elected with 21 votes (100 percent).

St. Martins

Alderman North: Darrell Walker (unopposed) was elected with 20 votes (90.91 percent). There were also two write-in votes.

Alderman South: Daryl Raithel (unopposed) was elected with seven votes (100 percent).

Taos

Mayor: Anthony (Tony) Forck (unopposed) was elected with 126 votes (91.30 percent). There were also 12 write-in votes.

Alderman Ward 1: No candidate filed. Among the write-in candidates, Curtis Trippensee, had the most votes, 13, followed by Edward Chorenziak with four votes and Charles Best with one.

Alderman Ward 2: Matt Forck (unopposed) was elected with 79 votes (95.18 percent). There were also four write-in votes.

Question: Voters approved selling the town's wastewater utility to Missouri American Water, with 151 (87.79 percent) voting yes and 21 (12.21 percent) voting no. A simple majority was needed to pass the measure.

Wardsville

Trustee: Paul Stoner (80 votes, 32.26 percent), Brian Schrimpf (87 votes, 35.08 percent) and Mark Eichholz (80 votes, 32.26 percent), all unopposed, were elected. There was also one write-in vote.
