Cole County Prosecutor charges several in drug cases

The Cole County Prosecutor’s Office recently filed charges in several drug cases.

Jason Martin, 22, was charged with delivery of a controlled substance, unlawful use of a weapon and possession of a controlled substance for an incident that occurred in May.

Officers were called to the 2100 block of Alpine Court for a disturbance, and Martin was reportedly “quickly trying to walk away from the scene,” according to a Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statement.

Officers found Martin had an out-of-state warrant for narcotics and placed him in handcuffs. They later allegedly found him to be in possession of a 9 mm Smith and Wesson pistol, which authorities said Martin claimed he bought from an unknown person in a city park. There were 15 rounds reportedly in the pistol.

Officers also reported finding Martin to be in possession of two bags of marijuana, six bags of ecstasy pills and one bag of Xanax pills. When questioned, Martin allegedly admitted to being a drug dealer and that he packaged pills for sale.

In a separate case, an Eldon woman was charged with delivery of a controlled substance after a vehicle stop in March. Ashley Witt, 33, was also charged with possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to register a motor vehicle, failure to drive on the right side of the road and exceeding the speed limit.

Officers reportedly saw Witt driving erratically going north on Missouri 179, near Route C, according to a JCPD probable cause statement. She then went east on Missouri Boulevard and was eventually stopped in the 2800 block of South Ten Mile Drive after officers reportedly saw she was driving with expired Missouri registration.

Witt allowed officers to search her vehicle, where they allegedly found two black boxes containing glass pipes a digital scale and seven zip-lock bags containing methamphetamine.

When questioned, she allegedly admitted to selling methamphetamine because she was homeless and needed a source of income.

In another case, a Holts Summit man was charged with delivery of a controlled substance after a traffic stop in February. Jervontaye Warmack, 26, was also charged with interfering with an arrest, unlawful possession of a drug paraphernalia and failure to display license plates.

Officers stopped Warmack in the 300 block of West Ashley Street for failure to have a front license plate on the vehicle, according to a JCPD probable cause statement. When officers asked to search his truck, Warmack reportedly said “no” and locked the truck. When officer said they were going to detain Warmack, he allegedly resisted being placed in handcuffs, during which officers said he threw the truck keys into a nearby yard.

Officers recovered the keys and allegedly found more than a pound of marijuana, loose cash, a digital scale and zip-lock bags inside the truck.

In a separate case, a Mokane man was charged with delivery of a controlled substance after a traffic stop in December. Sean Hoehn, 39, is also charged with unlawful use of a weapon, failure to obey a traffic control device and possession of a controlled substance.

Hoehn was stopped at the intersection of East Ashley and Monroe streets after he allegedly stopped past the stop sign at the intersection, according to a JCPD probable cause statement.

A search of his vehicle allegedly turned up a black bag with methamphetamine, marijuana, empty plastic bags and three digital scales. Officers also allegedly found a 12-gauge shotgun.

When questioned, officers said Hoehn admitted all the items belonged to him.
