The fifth annual Patriot Sunday honoring Jefferson City area first responders will take place Sept. 6.

Operation Bugle Boy is teaming up with American Legion Post 5 to sponsor this event.

There will be a complementary chicken dinner served for the active first responders and their families.

The event will be 4-7 p.m.

Organizers said 500 tickets will be made available at Legends Bank on East McCarty Street and noted these tickets are also for area volunteer first responders.

Tickets are required for all participants except for children ages 5 and younger. Carryout meals will be available for active first responders and family members who have tickets.

Tickets will be available until they are gone or through Sept. 4.

All 500 tickets are sponsored including 19 by Mr. and Mrs. David Beamer, whose son Todd Beamer was among those killed on United Flight 93 that crashed in Pennsylvania while passengers fought with hijackers Sept. 11, 2001. The 19 tickets represent one ticket for each year since Todd was killed.
