This year's Concert Inside the Walls has been postponed again due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Smash Mouth was set to headline the Sept. 12 concert at the historic Missouri State Penitentiary in Jefferson City after it was postponed in June. After discussing the pandemic with the band and the venue though, Event Coordinator Penny Smith said, "it was determined to be a risk for the spreading virus."
"This year has been an understandable challenge to hold events amidst the pandemic," Smith said.
Smash Mouth agreed to reschedule their performance in 2021, Smith said. Event organizers plan to select the new date next month.
Formed in 1994, Smash Mouth is known for hits like "All-Star," "I'm a Believer" and "Walkin' on the Sun."
Past Concert Inside the Walls headliners have included Dennis DeYoung, Big & Rich, Wynonna Judd and the Big Noise, and Travis Tritt. Last year's concert was moved from the Missouri State Penitentiary to the Jefferson City Jaycees Fairground after the May 2019 tornado damaged the penitentiary site.
