Quarterly campaign finance reports for candidates in contested Cole County races in the Aug. 4 primary election were due Wednesday.

This period covers donations made between April 1 and June 30.

Western District Commissioner

In the race for Cole County Western District commissioner, Republican incumbent Kris Scheperle and his committee, Committee to Elect Kris Scheperle, reported $135.50 on hand at the close of this reporting period.

Those giving contributions of $100 or more included: Dick Schutt, of Jefferson City, $100; Renee Korsmeyer, of Jefferson City, $500; and contributions of $600 and $400 from Scheperle.

Republican Gary Bemboom and his committee reported $1,927.35 on hand.

Also on the Republican ticket for assessor are Jonathan Roy Meyers and Alex Meller. Neither reported exceeding $1,000 in campaign contributions during this period; according to the Missouri Ethics Commission, in those cases, no campaign finance report would need to be filed.

The winner of the Republican primary will have no Democratic challenger in the November general election.

Unopposed candidates

Republican Cole County Sheriff John Wheeler is unopposed in the Aug 4. primary. His campaign committee, Committee to Elect John Wheeler, filed a limited activity statement with the Missouri Ethics Commission. That means the committee has not had contributions or expenditures of more than $500 and no single contribution of more than $300.

Republican Cole County Treasurer Eric Peters is running unopposed in the Aug. 4 primary. Peters said he did not form a campaign committee because he is unopposed.

Republican Ralph Jobe is the only candidate running for public administrator. Due to the resignation of Joe Kuensting as public administrator in June, Jobe was appointed to the position July 1. Jobe's campaign committee, Friends of Ralph Jobe, reported $1,734.39 on hand at the end of the reporting period, receiving no contributions of $100 or more. The committee also reported a loan of $2,000 from Jobe.
