A Jefferson City man has been placed on five years supervised probation in connection with assaulting two police officers in December 2018.

Jordan Pruitt, 23, pleaded guilty during a hearing before Cole County Judge Jon Beetem to two counts of third-degree assault and one count of resisting arrest. As part of his probation, he was ordered to complete 100 hours of community service.

Officers were investigating a domestic disturbance in the 200 block of North Ventura, according to a Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statement.

Pruitt admitted to officers he had destroyed furniture in the living room of the residence, overturned a table and ripped a banister from a wall during an argument.

As officers continued the investigation, Pruitt attempted to flee the residence. Officers tried to stop him, but Pruitt struck the officers multiple times with his fists. He bit one officer's hand, causing the officer to need outpatient medical care, and he broke a tooth of another officer.

The victim told officers Pruitt was upset at losing his job and said he had used narcotics prior to the altercation.
