A Mokane man was arrested after allegedly threatening to use a gun Sunday afternoon at St. Mary's Hospital in Jefferson City.

Monday morning, Cole County prosecutors charged Clinton Miller, 49, with first-degree making a terroristic threat.

According to Jefferson City Police Department reports, officers were called to the hospital at approximately 12:24 p.m.

Miller had allegedly told staff in the emergency room that he had a gun and would use it if he could not see his ex-wife and daughter, who had come to the hospital about an hour earlier.

Due to the potential threat, hospital officials locked down the facility affecting more than 150 patients and staff, according to police.

Responding officers located Miller sitting in a vehicle in the parking lot. Officers ordered Miller to get out and he was taken into custody without incident. Once the scene was secure, officers did not locate a firearm and Miller reportedly told officers he did not have a gun.

Authorities did interviews with emergency room staff and patients waiting to be seen and authorities said they all confirmed that Miller had publicly stated that, "I've got a gun in the truck, I'll get in."
